What a day with so many different experiences! We woke up to sunshine and had a whole breakfast in the sun. After that I wanted to see, if I could get a hold of a new stern anchor roll to replace the one that broke. So I left my crew with 2 tasks: replace gas canister and fill up water. Sadly there was no anchor roll replacement at the shipyard!
Tonight at the natural harbour Örholmarna Eva suddenly asked, if the water could be out, because the faucet was dry. I got all confused until I found out that all of them had expected the other to fill the water tank. I had not checked and trusted them, shucks! Not a huge deal we still have another 150l, but water is now rationed and we need to go back to a serviced harbour earlier than otherwise would have been necessary. So much about that, even a great crew can make mistakes!
Mine was thinking we could take a shortcut to the natural harbour between 2 islands that on the sea chart looked deep enough to passage. Torsten, Eva and Stefan were upfront looking out for stones and making sure water was deep enough. Suddenly it rumbled and we were on top of a rock. Next step was putting Torsten in a harness and letting the boom out to get the biggest leverage. We did not come loose on the backboard side, but redoing it on starboard got us freed. 20 minutes later in the first rain shower that got my harbour book all wet, we found our spot with help of another sailor on land that helped us even getting tired up.
Just as we were all set around 16h another massive shower hit. Checking the weather forecast again, I now found a shower warning for the afternoon and early evening with gusts up to 14 m/s. Luckily our spot is perfectly protected while the sea on the other side of the island has foam capped waves. For grilling we even had a spot completely in the wind shadow. Our mast is hauling because the tip is exposed to the strong gusts, but boat is safe. Kind of a cool feeling to be so sheltered in a natural harbour.
