What a great day our crossing Ålands hav was yesterday!
We had decided to get up at 5.30 o'clock to be able to head out hopefully before wind got to strong and waves to bothersome. Shortly before 7 we left Käringsund under motor and headed south against wind and waves. Predicted was a windshift from south west to west which would have been good because our direction was 212 compass course to get to Arholma. After about 1 hour motoring we set sails and headed direction 180, just south. Sun was up and we had a beautiful morning sailing seeing Ålands coast dissappear behind us. In the middle we had a big ship first heading our way and then turning babord crossing us on our babord side. Simultaneously we were as far from both coasts and could see them both as well as crossing my last path going north on the GPS plotter! So cool!
Wind hardly shifted in our favor to the west so we supported our course a bit with the motor until we just sailed the last bit all the way into harbour. At the pier we needed to make some of the motor boats all parked sideways leave some room for us until we could dock with heck anchor.
We arrived after 6 hours and 45 minutes crossing Ålands hav under very moderate conditions, very cool!
Quickly we made lunch and then explored the island with it's lighthouse.
We had dinner at the famous Dansbanan with a beautiful sunset, perfect ending to a great week with my friends Lukas and Katja!
