What an awesome day it has been again and now at 18h we still sit in our bathing suits after a cooling swim in the harbour. Who would have thought that up north I would experience temperatures as in the Mediterranean, but with long sunny days in beautiful archipelagos setting?
After breakfast went to the Degersand camping to have another cappuccino before setting out. Even during breakfast we saw a big rain cloud lingering close but east of us. Coming back from the camping it still was there and it was almost wind still. Since we wanted to head west and then north we took the chance to get a bit wet, but we only had another 10 drops of rain. Rounding the cap wind slowly increased so we could set sails. I steered in a soft left arc following the wind and instead of jibing we turned with the wind, very cool!
Soon we reached Käringsund and after getting gas were fast a the pier.
Now the plan was to pick up some groceries since on Saturday the supermarket had closed early. In my harbour book it said it was 1km to the store (affär). After 1,5km we reached Jussis Keramik & Cafe so I went in asking for directions.
You won't believe what happened next! First I found out the next store was more than 10km away so getting there by foot a whole afternoons hike in the heat. So I asked for someplace to rent bikes. Now the nice lady at the register started asking if I had a drivers license and was allowed / insured to drive her car -wow!
Do you know what Nancy finally did? She drove us to the store in her green Polo, waited until we finished shopping and then dropped us of at the harbour. All without wanting anything more than a thanks! How amazing is that?
I would say she definitely is my angel of the day helping us tremendously!

Every crew who went to the nice bakery in Mariehamn do you remember the ceramic and glass shop next door? Well Nancy is married to Jussi who runs that place in Mariehamn as well as Jussis Keramik & Cafe here in Storby.  Jussis Keramik
