Lorena and Rainer both had slept well, we enjoyed breakfast on deck in the sun and completed the security briefing to go onto the water swiftly. We all got one last shower, before heading out for two nights in natural harbours. When we left Bullandö a perfectly blue sky had been followed by a lightly overcast one. As soon as we could see the Djurö bridge Lorena took over steering still under motor with tons of Sunday traffic heading back while we got out. She managed to steer zigzag between all boats just fine while monitoring her plotter path. As we had more open water on Kanjolmsfjärden we set sails and started with just above 2 knots speed which picked up to 5,4 with heeling during the afternoon. Heading north with a north easterly wind meant tacking a few times which we soon perfected.
I knew with Rainer on board I would enjoy his good cooking, but he already in one day has exceeded my expectations! For lunch I had avocado tomato sandwich with fresh baguette, then coffee and Kanelbulle, for dinner then filled grilled mushrooms, sausages, zucchini and foil potatoes all spiced with love.
We had coffee with chocolate afterwards.
While on the water Lorena and I investigated the 2 options for Finnhamn either in a smaller bay with both a pier or opinion to tie up towards rocks or a bigger natural harbour bay called "Paradiset". We ended up at Finnhamn Söder Långholm with Lorena swiftly getting on land and pulling the rope through a metal ring mounted on the rock. Soon we were all tied up having a beer and chips in the sun on deck!
We finished the night with a longer walk around the island with the moon rising. Back at the boat Lorena and I planned the passage over to Åland together while Rainer went to bed. Investigating different distances from Arholma to harbours in Åland using both the overview sea charts as well as harbour book and Åland sport boating detailed sea charts we could go to bed satisfied at 1 o'clock.
